Introduction The “Tour de Taiwan” is a large-scale, top level 1 (2.1) international cycling event recognized by the International Cycling Union (ICU), and is the largest and most iconic cycling race in the Asian region, surpassing both Japan and Korea. The Tour de Taiwan is a major event in Taiwan with a history of several decades. The experience acquired over this time and the level of professionalism that has developed attracts teams from overseas to take part in this grand event. The Tour de Taiwan is a qualifying-point race. This year (2013) the competition will last seven days with a length of 820 km and will be divided into seven stages: Pingtung, Tainan, Changhua, Taichung, Taoyuan, New Taipei City, and Taipei. To be able to compete against the very top-ranking international level cycling teams is truly a major international event rarely seen in Taiwan. For promoting the green, environmental, “slow movement,” and healthy city, cycling instead of walking is certainly the trend, and the Tour de Taiwan can have this effect. As people watch this competition, they will be able to take back home with them healthy ideas and healthy activities.
