There is a dazzling array of cuisine to tempt you in Taiwan, from local to international. Eating out is an important part of the culture, so you will find a restaurant on almost every street and chances are you will find something new every time.
In recognition of the ever expanding and improving range of restaurants in Taiwan, the U.S. based website The Daily Meal recently compiled a list of the 101 best restaurants in Asia, which included seven restaurants in Taiwan. Citing the perfect taste of their “xiao long bao,” or steamed dumplings, Din Tai Fung topped the poll as the best restaurant in Asia. The other six awarded restaurants in Taiwan were Tu Hsiao Yueh (Taiwanese), Nonzero (fusion of West and East), Osteria de Angie (Italian), Seventy-two Beef Noodle Restaurant (Taiwanese beef noodles), La Cocotte (French) and Hiroshima (Japanese).
So put the diet on hold, practice using chopsticks* and prepare to eat your way through Taiwan.
